The designer who brought all eyes to London fashion in the 90’s was honored to have all eyes on the gown showcased by Kate Middleton on her wedding day. Her bridal gown is now a piece of history which will join other royals gowns as a historical recorded of her expression of pure beauty through the eyes of the house of Alexander McQueen.
As rumors flew in March of Sarah Burton’s plum assignment Anna Wintour was quoted in the March 7th USA Today article ‘Report: Kate Middleton’s wedding dress will be an Alexander McQueen’ calling Burton “a brilliant choice.” Leaves you to wonder if Ms. Wintour, the mother of Fashion, had a hand in the royal wedding dress selection. The house that would design the gown would transform Kate from commoner to princess.

This gown celebrated both the traditional and the modern woman who wore the piece. It was truly interesting to experience how this wedding brought out so many different interesting commentary from those in the business of fashion. True to McQueen’s style the contrary parallels were in balance through true beauty.

Indeed everyone had something to say while not unanimous , most agreed the bride looked chic, timeless, and flat-out gorgeous.”
I felt some truly did not see the meaning of the moment, why she made the selection she did, and others simply only focused only on the moment. The design of the gown and the meaning of the day at this wedding, were as essential as the punctuality of British tradition. My favorite quote was from Ralph Rucci, a true artist and couturier.

It was lovely to read the the various Quotes and hear the celebration of craftsmanship “I liked that they used the royal School of needlework” – Catherine Malandrino, the eye of those who enjoy the body and the sensuality of a woman as bride “The dress perfectly fit Kate’s slim body,emphasizing her thin waist. The lace discreetly unveils her shoulders and the top of her chest.” – Nathalie Rykiel, Sonia Rykiel and the images which came to mind of women she emulated with her look. “A combination just in between 1956 Grace Kelly and 1947 Queen Elizabeth Dresses” – Christian Lacroix.
A wedding gown is truly a garment which will last forever the historical references of the dress and what it represents is why woman search for the perfect gown it is one dress for one moment! Every woman deserves her modern day Fairy Tale. I personally enjoyed the pleasure it brought to the world stage of pure happiness, for a brief moment the world was moved by love and a gorgeous dress!
