My Ever After is hosting an Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012 Trunk Show this Saturday, November 26th. Oscar de la Renta is a Dominican born American fashion designer best known for helping to define standards of elegant dressing.
At age 18, Mr. de la Renta studied painting at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. Shortly after he began assisting Balenciaga, Spain’s most renowned courtier. In 1961 he joined Antonio Castillo in Paris as a couture assistant at Lanvin. He then moved to NY in 1963 to design RTW for Elizabeth Arden before branching out to start his own label in 1965. All of de la Renta’s collections are modern with a romantic, feminine sense and consistently use vibrant colors, delicate prints, and gorgeous ruffles to achieve this look.
Mr. de la Renta is a reception of many awards. They include: the Juan Pablo Duarte Order of Merit and the Order of Critobal Colon for his charitable activities in the DR; a CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990; and a CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award in 2000.
