February is a gorgeous month in the city of Manhattan. Fabulous weather, great memories and incredible garments. As we begin the new year, Ready To Wear takes the runway at Fashion Week. This season Carolina Herrera showed us a whimsical side, Vera Wang showed us her grunge side and Reem Acra brought us those stunning red carpet gowns.
“A whimsical play on proportions,” Carolina Herrera promised before her show, and she definitely delivered.
Fashion week is such a spectacular time in the city, walking into the next show at Bryant Park, Reem Acra.
Beading was prevalent, often in the form of thick cherry-blossom branches extending over one shoulder of a dress or cardigan. Reem Acra had stunning pieces for every Red Carpet look.
“You Bug Me.” That was the message stamped across a black T-shirt that came marching out over a plaid button-down and a long black leather skirt. Why the attitude? Because Vera Wang, wedding dresser to the stars, has gone grunge. Stranger things have happened on a runway, but that tee definitely qualified as a surprise.
“Celestial” was Douglas Hannants touch point for a cool-colored Fall 2014 collection.
