The season of wistful white dresses is upon us. Get a glimpse at what you or the betrothed ladies in your life will be wearing for their upcoming nuptials with the best looks from each of the top collections from Oscar de la renta, Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Inbal Dror and more.
For Vera Wang’s Spring 2015 collection she said she was inspired by the “lightness of being, delicate and discipline, sensual and seductive.” The fabrics were worked in light layers of tulle and lace, with silhouettes ranging from minimal, chic columns to more intricate princess and mermaid styles. A new shape was a delicate lace shirtdress that looked modern and fresh in its simplicity.
“I spend so much time studying the bride,” Acra said backstage, adding that she makes sure to offer something for every type. Silhouettes included columns, traditional ball gowns, flattering fit-and-flares and a sweeping circular style in cascading chiffon. Known for her intricate embroideries, Acra also played with beautiful appliqués, reembroidered lace with crystal and pearl embellishments.
Oscar de la Renta took an elegant and timeless route with his bridal runway show. “We tried to cover a lot of bases with the collection, from very classic to dresses for exotic places,” he said. “The idea is always to make that girl feel very special.” To that end, a princessy floral Chantilly lace number covered the traditional ground while a cotton eyelet bikini top with matching pareo spoke to the beach-bound bride.
Carolina Herrera stuck with her roots as this collection focused on “hidden luxuries” such as tulle gowns that veiled a layer of embellished lace. While many looks were traditional and romantic — the embroidered gown in degradé lace with a crystal belt, for example — Herrera also featured a few more modern numbers such as the two styles done in laser-cut lace motifs — one all over and the other as an appliquéd detail — for a cool edge.
The rise of fascination for our Israeli designers has been a new offering for the bride of today. Ever After Miami commissioned Inbal Dror for creating the unique assortment for the collection in our Miami showroom. Her sense of editorial imagery has brought a new customer through our doors.
